How it works
BMI divides your weight by the square of your height (weight in pounds × 703 ÷ height in inches²). The categories are the CDC's standard ranges for adults.
Good to know
BMI is a quick screening number, not a diagnosis. It doesn't tell muscle from fat, and it can read differently for athletes, older adults, and some ethnic groups. It isn't used on its own to decide whether any treatment is right for you.
This tool gives general estimates for educational purposes only. It isn't medical advice, a diagnosis, or a determination of eligibility for any treatment. Talk with a licensed healthcare provider about your health.
